I was on the phone with a colleague at Google today, when he reminded me that it’s been a few months since I posted anything to my blog. Being shamed (by no less than a smarty pants over at the great Goog) into a fresh post, I decided to write a post about that very fact.
It’s a simple truth that we, as website designers, often leave our own websites to go to seed. The shoemakers child, in a very real way.
I have a website I built many years ago with Twitter Marketing advice that I haven’t touched since, I’m afraid to say. And as for the one you’re looking at? I’d never build this particular website for a client, or use such a grainy background photo on a client’s blog… But when is there any time? I have ten projects going at any one time, and all the hours of the day are so well earmarked they’re downright dog eared at this point. I blog for others, I run a few marketing campaigns, I build PPC campaigns constantly, build websites… all for two companies and I have the twins also, who – although they are 16 now – somehow require a lot MORE time and energy than when they were ten… School, college, babysitting, sleepovers, etc… I suppose, at times, I should remember to update this space. There’s been a ton of news, and I like to keep my friends posted on the latest.
Things I plan to cover soon:
- Less visibility of data in search
- Changes to Facebook privacy controls
- User behavior changes in light of recent news about prying eyes
- Recent changes to Google Adwords display network and some thoughts on best practices
So, you know who you are. Thanks, for the poke, nudge, or whatever. I promise I’ll start up again.
